The "Bad old days" in Canada:
a couple decades long.
Our dollar was at 68
and merchants sang this song:
"Alas, alack! What can we do?
Life's tough and days are dour!
Our prices must be doubled to
offset low purchasing power."
But "doubled" may have been misspoke.
Inflation factor three
was tonic for Canadian folk
for fiscal recovery.
"We're getting close but need some more.
Don't quit we've come too far.
A cost of living index 4
should get us back to par.
Fantastic jobs, big house, nice car,
our well-deserved fates
we'll surely see when our currency
is even with that of the States."
Our politicians sang the same song
to the lower and middle classes.
Like puppets they all brayed along
corporate hands up their fat asses.
Well here we are! We're back at par.
So why does life still suck?
I can't afford a house or car
and scrape to save a buck.
Our dollar now at 99
is weaker than before.
Osterity our tax, our fine
has made them rich, us poor.
A trip across the border though
can ease our suffering.
Cuz everything is cheaper there.
Absolutely everything!
But ask MP's and merchants how
to deal with all this shit,
and they say, "How? My friend by now
you should be used to it."
